In the premier of the 5th Group, France had an excellent game with a 83-57 win over the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. Trailing by 31 at the half they showed the reason why they are considered one of the best teams of the European basketball championship.
In the first quarter Both teams started extraordinarily nervous with France to focus to get the ball inside while FYROM to prefer 3 point shots.
Parker started strong and looked extremely focused. He dominated the first quarter and together with his teamates gave some really great moments to the spectators.
The first quarter ended 24-9 and France kept the same tempo in the second one, playing suffocating defense and getting absolutely huge efforts off the bench. On the other hand FYROM was consuming the offense efforts in a barrage of lost 3-point shots.
The 32 points difference gave France a confidence boost and French manage to keep it till the end of the match. From FYROM the only player who was rescued from the disastrous night was Jeremiah Massey.
Pietrus and De Colo led the way for France with 14 points, and San Antonio’s guard Tony Parker added 13 points.
