Modern writers about Macedonia – 1897 The Battlefields of Thessaly, With Personal Experiences in Turkey and Greece
Another evidence about the ethnicities inhabiting Macedonia around 1897 comes from the book “The Battlefields of Thessaly, With Personal Experiences in Turkey and Greece“.
Remove the Turks from Macedonia to-morrow and Greek, Wallach and Bulgar would be at each other’s throats for a week. Ther are kurds, Zeibecks, Arnauts, Drusos, Syrians of many sorts, Lazes, Jews, Ethiopians, Arabs and Circussians.
Its apparent there was no fictitious ethnic group allegedly identified themselves as “macedonians” back in 1897.
