The Macedonian Struggle for the liberation of Macedonia (1904-1908)
The Macedonian struggle (1904-1908)
The Macedonian struggle was a series of military conflicts of the native Macedonians (Greeks) against Turkish occupation and the Bulgarian komitadjis between 1904 and 1908. Gradually the Macedonian bands gained the upper hand, paving the way for the liberation of large parts of the Ottoman-occupied Macedonia by Greece during the Balkan Wars in 1912-1913. Many Indigenous Macedonians along with other Greeks who rushed to help their brothers as volunteers, fought during the Macedonian Struggle for the liberation of Macedonia. They were Known as “Makedonomachoi”.
