Gruevski’s Berlin Fiasco
The daily Fokus describes the meeting between FYROM’s PM, Nikola Gruevski and the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel as a Berlin Fiasco.
The commenter of Fokus, Aleksandar Dimitrov, argues convincingly that the German Chancellor Angela Merkel offered help to PM Gruevski, but did not offer the desired German support to make FYROM become a NATO member.
He couldnt be more right. Essentially the German Chancellor repeated the same message coming also from NATO and EU. An invitation will be extended to FYROM as soon as a mutually acceptable solution to the name issue has been reached.
“Same as last year in Washington, now in Berlin too”, wrote Dimitrov. He also added that it was confirmed that luckily FYROM has friends that want to see it as part of NATO and the EU, but due to his politics, Gruevski is losing these friends or no longer has them.
