foule FYROM most probably to get a Negative Report in the upcoming EU Summit

FYROM most likely will not be set a date for launching membership negotiations at the EU Summit in June because the country has not met the political criteria.

Thus far, no concrete step in solving the name issue has been made, there is no dialogue and a parliamentary ad-hoc commission for clearing the events of 24 December has not been established.

FYROM’s Foreign Minister, Nikola Poposki, tried once more to blame Greece in order to cover his own government’s mistakes in his meeting with Stefano Sannino, Director for Enlargement at the European Commission.

It is certain that our country has been ready to open accession talks for a long period of time and it is just as certain that Greece is not ready to give support without which the setting of a date is impossible,” he stated.

According to former diplomat Denko Maleski, the politics in FYROM resembles a factory that fails to satisfy the European standards. He stated that the non-fulfillment of the European criteria clearly shows that the country will get a negative report in June.

On the other hand, according to former diplomat Denko Maleski, the politics in FYROM resembles a factory that fails to satisfy the European standards. He stated that the non-fulfillment of the European criteria clearly shows that the country will get a negative report in June.

Perhaps we want but cannot reach the spirit of the EU. We always face obstacles when the dialogue and compromise are at issue. We will therefore stay behind and learn,” Maleski said

According to him, this reality makes it known that they cannot develop a dialogue with Europe because our Balkan politics are incompatible with the European politics. He accuses the two main FYROM’s parties of not being able to find five independent persons to form an investigative parliamentary commission.

We agree with each other under pressure only but in practice there is no realization because nobody trusts him in practice,” Maleski said.

In the meantime in another diplomatic blunder, the decision of  FYROM’s President Gjorgje Ivanov not to invite Kosovo’s President  to the upcoming Summit in Ohrid, sparked outrage in Kosovo and Albania against FYROM.

Ivanov’s decision was deemed as “anti-European” by Kosovo’s officials.  The spokesman for the office of the Albanian president stated that after the incident, the Albanian president is most likely to reject his invitation too.

The Greek and Bulgarian president have already refused to participate sending a clear message to FYROM.
