Dear Christos Karatzios – I am the Michael Schwartz to whom you refer as author of the article about Mordechai Frizis. I lived in Ioannina as a student and wrote about its Greek community (I met the late and much-respected Ioseph Matsas several times in 1974-5). I am honoured that you mention my article – when I think of Greece's bravery in 1940 I am honoured to be a Philhellene.

I do not know about the American involvement. Regarding the British, I am in two minds. Were they conscious anti-Semites? Or were they quite simply the typical drunken scum that England off-loads onto places like Crete and does not know what it is doing?

I lived in England until 2007 when my wife and I emigrated to Toronto, partly because of the rise and rise of the Great British moron. If you have some spare napalm, you may drop it on the morons with my blessing.
