Alexander the Great was voted as the Greatest Greek of all Time, within the ambitious production of Skai Tv “Great Greeks”. Alexander collected more than 127,000 votes. Georgios Papanikolaou was voted Second.
By collecting in total 127,011 votes, Alexander the Great was embraced by the public for his Historical Magnificence. He is a hero that lived 23 centuries ago and many nations claim him up to now as their own.
Aristotle taught him for 3 years and since then the young Alexander was sleeping with “Iliada” as his pillow. At the time he reached his 20 years of age he assumed the kingship of Macedon and a little later he started his Asian campaign against Persians.
He died on 13th June of 323 BC, at the age of 33, from fever, most likely from Malaria.
” He is a symbol of huge dimensions who was full of the gentle, delicate, physiognomy of the Greek Spirit to which some are jealous even today. Personally i consider that Alexander the Great is the great gateway of the Greek sentiment and the base of the Greek Civilization” stated the director Giannis Smaragdis while he presented the TV show about Alexander the Great.
The voting was culminated with a discussion which had the form of the debate, and until the last moment we have plenty of reversals. The 10 Intellectuals, namely Giannis Smaragdis, Stephanos Manos, Basilis Karasmanis, Pemi Zouni, Tassos Telloglou, Petros Tatsopoulos, Thanos Veremis, Sia Kosioni, Grigoris Patrikaris and Maria Houkli, argued with knowledge and gravity while they defended with passions the Great Greeks they represented individually.
Along with them, about 250 supporters from areas like art, sciences, politics and television, from Greece and abroad, inspired with their thought the votes of the public and helped in the final election of the Greatest Greek of all time.
