FYROM’s Albanians: “Tsar Dusan’s Monument Aims At Provoking Albanians”

Tsar Dusan

The monument of Serbian Tsar Dusan as a part of the project “Skopje 2014” angered Albanians in FYROM.

According to the publicist Kim Mehmeti, the monument was mounted for his “merits” in cleaning Skopje from Albanians.

He carried out the first “cleaning” of Albanians while the country’s politics recognizes this as a merit,” Mehmeti said.

According to him, it should not surprise us “if one day a monument of Nikola Gruevski is erected because he is known for the same deeds too.

Historian Nebi Dervisi stated that the mounting of this monument is aimed at provoking Albanians.

“Tsar Dusan killed and massacred thousands of Albanians in Skopje,” Dervisi stated.

He explained that the intellectuals and historians reacted against this fascist project but failed to get support. The mounting of the monuments caused reactions with the opposition.

For instance, RDK claimed that the ruling parties approve, as they say, the Serbian occupation of the territories with Albanian majority.

On the other hand, SDSM said that this act is problematic from an ideological aspect and it is a new unnecessary cost from the state budget.
